A superb French pendule de cheminée of the Louis-Philippe period, dated 1836 on both mainsprings. Signed Durland à Paris on the silvered engine-turned dial. The movement by renowned maker Honoré de Pons. The case of patinated bronze trimmed with gilt bronze. Figure of the Roman emperor Justinian, one arm resting on his codex of the laws of Rome. Eight-day silk-suspension movement, striking on a bell. A very fine clock.
